Films were made in Manchester by this Company in the 1920’s and introduced the world to such entertainers as Frank Randal, Norman Evans, Tessie O’Shea, and George Formby among many others. Do your best to be there. It is a joint event with The Friends of Heaton Hall and will be held in St MARY’S CHURCH. This will be a larger venue which Tom has kindly arranged. Do bring any friends you think might be interested.

In the meantime, don’t forget the trip to SLEDMERE on the 29th July. I believe there are one or two seats left on the coach. Contact Elaine Blood on 773 9354. This is a joint venture with The Friends of Heaton Hall.

The visit to LIVERPOOL TOWN HALL and the WALKER ART GALLERY on August 22nd is restricted to 20, but it is possible that there are some places left. Do please telephone Ian Pringle on 773 6912 if you would like to go. Make your own way to Liverpool.

Apart from the events described above we are happy to announce the re-instatement of our web site. Jack Barrett and his son have worked hard on this and it should be up and running within a few weeks. The address of this is info@prestwichheritage.com
We would like to know how many of our members have computer access. It would cut our costs down if some of our correspondence to you could be by e-mail rather than by post. My e-mail address is . Do please head your e-mails Prestwich Heritage. We will naturally post any information about the society to members who wish it.
Another innovation most welcome by members in the past, is a twice or perhaps three times yearly Newsletter.
Our new committee member, Peter Corbally, has agreed to co-ordinate this and it is hoped that members will write articles and interesting ‘bits’ to be put into it. The members, after all, are ‘The Society’ and any input you might have is welcome. The website will naturally also be a mouthpiece for your views and comments.
Do please remember to contact myself or your chairman regarding anything that you feel should be noted by the Society. Speakers that you have enjoyed in the past or items of interest for the Prestwich at War exhibition in the Museum space.
We do hope that there is something of interest to you in this varied programme of events.
